Location Details
Conveniently located in Brisbane's Northern suburbs, the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Queensland's most versatile indoor entertainment venue, is situated just 16 kms from the Brisbane CBD and 8 kms from Brisbane's domestic and international airports. Access by car is either via Sandgate Road or the Gateway Arterial Freeway, the main access to Queensland's beautiful Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
Finding Us
By Car
Traveling along Sandgate Road from Brisbane CBD
- Once on Sandgate Road Travel north for approximately 15Km. Landmarks which you will pass include Centro Toombul Shopping Centre on your right (approx 1/2 way point), St Joesph Nudgee College on your right, Approximately 200m on from there you will come to an intersection with signage to turn right to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. You will travel down Stanworth road, through 1 round-about and on the second you will turn left into the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Traveling along the Gateway Arterial from the Gold Coast
- Travel north over the Gateway Bridge, you will pass the Airport turnoff on your left. The Brisbane Entertainment Centre is approximately a 10 minute drive along the Gateway Arterial from the Airport turnoff. You will pass the Nudgee Shell super service centre on your left, keep traveling for approximately a further 2kms and you will see a sign to turn off to your left to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.
Traveling along the Bruce Highway / Gateway Arterial from the Sunshine Coast
- Travel south along the Bruce Highway and take the Gateway Arterial exit to your left. Follow the Gateway Arterial for approximately 6km's (following signage to the airport). You will pass the Bondall Wetlands on your left and you will see signage saying ' Brisbane Entertainment Centre - next Left”
Car Parking - The Centre has its own car park, providing 4,000 car spaces with a fee of $10.00 per vehicle to be paid by the driver.
Queensland Rail Train Station - stop at Boondall Railway Station (on the Shorncliff line) and follow the signs to the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. The train station is approximately a 550m walk along a fully lit path to the Front Entrance of the Centre. Queensland Rail are kept informed of our coming events and adjust their timetable when applicable. For more details on Queensland rail travel schedule please visit Transinfo
Taxi Rank - A taxi rank (with a drop off and pick up zone) is located at the side of the Centre.
Brisbane City Council Bus - there is a Brisbane City Council Bus which does operate from the CBD to the Boondall railway station, however, it is recommended that if you are traveling from the Brisbane CBD that you take the Train. Please consult with Transinfo on all Brisbane City Council Bus Schedules.

Brisbane Powerhouse is both a producer of contemporary performing arts and a multi-arts venue.
Nestled on the beautiful banks of Brisbane River (beside New Farm Park) the former power station has become a distinct landmark, both as a stunning industrial creation and as a hub for everything creative, including theatre, music, comedy, film, visual arts, festivals and ideas.
The Brisbane City Council New Farm Powerhouse was designed by Brisbane City Council Tramway architect, Roy Rusden Ogg and constructed in stages between 2020 and 2020. Built on the eastern riverside point of what is now New Farm Park, the water from the river provided cooling and the rail link supplied coal
At its peak in the post-war years it supplied electricity for the largest tram network in the southern hemisphere as well as servicing many of Brisbane’s suburbs. As trams were steadily replaced by buses, the Brisbane City Council sold the building to the state. It was officially decommissioned in 2020.
While commercially barren, the apparently derelict building provided shelter for the homeless, was a site for target practice for the army and a location for filmmakers and, as a precursor of its future a canvas for graffiti artists and a stage for underground art happenings.
Surviving two decades of neglect and a partially completed demolition project, the building was reacquired by Brisbane City Council in 2020. A significant example of industrial design of the art deco period, the power station was identified as culturally significant and the concept of a new incarnation as a centre for the arts was born.
The redeveloped Brisbane Powerhouse was designed by Brisbane City Council architect Peter Roy and was opened on 10 May, 2020 by Lord Mayor Jim Soorley. Seven years later the building underwent a further stage of development and was re-opened on 6 June 2020 by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman with increased audience capacities, restaurant and bar facilities as well as functions and conference spaces.
Brisbane Powerhouse now boasts a flexible 400 – 700 seat ‘end on’ stage theatre, an intimate 200 seat apron stage theatre, an 800 viewer open platform, two restaurants, conference and rehearsal rooms and offices.
Only ten years young, Brisbane Powerhouse is still evolving but has already cemented its role in the cultural life of the city and in the artistic life of the nation as well as its place among the most innovative and lively arts centres in the world. Brisbane Powerhouse is under the artistic direction of Andrew Ross, who was appointed in 2020.
Brisbane Powerhouse is Brisbane City Council's leading arts performance venue. Encouraging a diverse vibrant and creative city is one way Council is achieving its shared vision for living in Brisbane 2026.
